Dr. Marcus Scholtes is excited to join the team at Central Presbyterian Church as the new Director of Music Ministries! He has previously served in music director positions in Lutheran and Presbyterian churches in Quebec and Ontario. Marcus is an alumnus of the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University where he graduated with a Doctor of Music degree. He is Co-Artistic Director and conductor of the Toronto Concert Orchestra, and also serves as Associate Concertmaster of Sinfonia Toronto, a Juno Award winning ensemble. Outside of his musical interests he is a driving and automotive enthusiast.
Marcus is married to fellow musician, violinist Sharon Lee, and they have two children together, a 4-year old son, and 1-year old daughter. Marcus and Sharon are both from families steeped in the church, Marcus’s parents both being church organists, and Sharon’s parents working in ministry. Marcus and family are happy to call Central their new home church!
