What to Expect
What will the worship service be like?
There are three entrances to the Sanctuary, and all of them are open on Sunday morning. As you enter the front doors you will be personally greeted. Adults receive an adult bulletin, children a children’s bulletin. In the Sanctuary you may hear music chosen to help prepare your hearts and minds for worship. The style of the service is traditional, open and relaxed. In the Reformed tradition, the service includes congregational hymns, an Affirmation of Faith, Scripture readings, teaching for children, and a sermon. A choir supports singing and offers special anthems of praise. Our children and youth help lead the service several times each year. Children and teens are welcome to stay for the entire service, however there is a staffed Nursery and Faith Finders.
How long are the worship services?
Services are approximately 60 minutes.
What should I wear to worship?
Come as you are to worship the Lord! Wear whatever makes you comfortable. In keeping with Central’s open spirit, you will find people in everything from dresses, suits and ties, to jeans, shorts in the summer, and t-shirts. “Mortals look on the outward appearance but the Lord looks on the heart.” (1 Samuel 16:7)
Do I have to be a member of Central to receive Communion?
No. This is not our table, it is Christ’s table. All who are faithful in Christ are welcome. In the Presbyterian Church, “faithful” means all the people who confess their faith in Jesus Christ and have been baptized into the community of Jesus Christ. This includes baptized children and youth who are being taught the Word of God and nourished by faith through their families.
Where do my children go during the worship service?
Children are encouraged to participate in the worship service, and are welcome to stay. There is teaching for children during the first part of the service. Faith Finders is held for school aged children during the service and children return to the sanctuary during the final hymn to receive the blessing. Care for younger children (ages 0-4) is provided throughout the service in the Nursery.
Where do I park?
There are 5 designated accessible spots in the alley behind the church. Please see this map for all street and lot parking near the church.
