Melissa was raised in Aylmer, Ontario on a chicken farm. She attended Redeemer University College where she majored in English and minored in art history and missions. From there she completed her education degree at Western University and later received her Masters of English in the Field of Creative Writing from University of Toronto. She has taught English at Niagara Christian Community of Schools as well as at Tyndale University College, has worked as a youth minister at St. Clement’s Anglican Church, and most recently was an associate chaplain with the Christian Reformed Campus ministry at Western University. She has also been a camp counsellor, a relief staff with Christian Horizons, and a program coordinator with YouthWorks summer missions. She enjoys writing, singing, cycling, crafting of all kinds, board games and doing cryptic crosswords with her husband, Mark.
